Antoni Palluth
Antoni Palluth was a Polish engineer, cryptologist, and one of the founders of AVA Radio Company. He worked with Poland’s Cipher Bureau and taught in the secret cryptology course held at Poznań in 1929.
Engineering for cryptanalysis
AVA manufactured communications and cryptologic equipment designed for the Cipher Bureau. Palluth’s contribution is therefore important to the history of Enigma not only as an individual cryptologist but as an engineer helping make cryptanalytic methods usable.
War and captivity
After the German invasion, Palluth continued work connected with the Cipher Bureau in exile. He was captured in France in 1943 and died at Sachsenhausen in 1944.
In memoriam
Palluth’s life was cut short during the war. His role in Poland’s Enigma story is honored as part of a wider collective achievement.
