Gene Tsudik

Tsudik's research covers recurring security problems—authentication, privacy, Internet security, and trustworthy distributed systems—and his academic service helped shape venues for security research.

Gene Tsudik is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. His research interests include security, privacy, and applied cryptography, with work that ranges across Internet and distributed systems.

Security research and community service

Before joining UCI, Tsudik worked at IBM Zurich Research Laboratory and USC's Information Sciences Institute. He later served as editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Information and System Security, now ACM Transactions on Privacy and Security.

Why it belongs here

Research on privacy, authentication, and distributed trust often determines whether a security mechanism can withstand real deployment. Tsudik's career is part of that academic and engineering history.
