Helger Lipmaa

Lipmaa’s research demonstrates how cryptographic protocols can make claims verifiable without exposing underlying data. This is central to secure voting, privacy-preserving computation, and modern zero-knowledge systems.

Helger Lipmaa is a professor at the University of Tartu, where he leads cryptography research in security and theoretical computer science. The university’s cryptography group lists zero knowledge, secure multiparty computation, post-quantum cryptography, and efficient cryptographic computation among its research areas.

His work includes cryptographic protocols for privacy and verifiability, including research relevant to e-voting and zero-knowledge systems. These systems aim to show that a statement is true without disclosing more than necessary.

Lipmaa’s research-group history records the development of cryptography teaching and research at Tartu from the late 1990s onward. His curriculum vitae documents longstanding professional service in the cryptography community.

He is included as a researcher whose work connects formal protocol research with security and privacy applications.
